“The University didn’t pay my salary since June while other employees were paid,” said Gudina

December 28, 2014, ADDIS ABABA (Sudan Tribune) – An Ethiopian opposition leader on Sunday dismissed reports alleging he has been fired from his job at the government-run Addis Ababa University.

Local media outlets reported that the leader of the opposition Oromo Federalist Congress, Merara Gudina, who chairs also the coalition of opposition parties MEDREK was fired from his academic professorial position.

The reports indicated that Gudina, an associate professor of political science at Addis Ababa University, was fired for his political views and due to the growing popularity he gained among university students in the build-up of the upcoming general elections.

“I haven’t received any letter of dismissal from the University,” Gudina told Sudan Tribune.

However, he claimed that the University has withheld his seven month salary for unknown reason.

“The university didn’t pay my salary since June while other employees were paid,” said Gudina adding “I don’t know why but I am in debate with the concerned bodies to release my salary”

The former MP is known of his democracy-related critics against the ruling party. Referring to the previously-fired opponents, opposition circles say Gudina is most likely to be fired soon.

Recently two opposition members who have been working at Ethiopian Airlines and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia were reportedly fired from their jobs.

Opposition members said their dismissal was politically motivated but government authorities said it was taken on disciplinary administrative measures.

International right groups are accusing the horn of Africa’s nation of tightening crackdown on independent media and opposition members ahead of the polls slated for May 2015.

In October, Amnesty International accused the Ethiopian government of illegally detaining over 5,000 members of the Oromo ethnic group, over the past four years to squash political dissent.

According to Amnesty, the detainees are accused of supporting the Oromo Liberation Front, a movement labelled by government as terrorist entity.

Ethiopia has repeatedly denied allegations of illegal detention and harassment, describing it as fabricated accusations aiming to tarnish image of the country.

The country’s electoral board this week said the country is prepared to conduct a democratic, free and fair election.

Professor Merrara Gudina an Oromo intellectual has been sacked from his post at AAU

December 27, 2014 (siitube) –Professor Merrara Gudina, an Oromo/Ethiopian Political ScienceLecturer has been sacked by Ethiopian government from his post at Addis Ababa University(AAU) for his political view. He is known for his staunch support forhuman rights of the peoples of this entire region in general, for his ethnic national, the Oromo (40% of the entire Ethiopians) in particular.

Regardless of its barbarism to the citizens, the Ethiopian government receives from the UK tax payers about 340million annually, despite its abhorring records of human rights. About 6 month ago (June 2014), the UK citizen with Ethiopian origin known as Andargachew Tsige (one of prominent Diaspora Opposition leaders) has been kidnaped by Ethiopian securityforces from Yemen Capital Sana’a and taken to Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa where he has been allegedly tortured and deprived access to consular support and kept out public sight. His wife and children in London are left in darkness. The UK government is doing little or nothing about their citizen.

Between 80.000 to 100.000 political prisoners are kept in various Ethiopian prisons (from whom about 90% prisoners belong to Ethnic Oromo of professor Merrara Gudina). Freedom of assembly, association and expression are unthinkable. Literally the regime in power, dominated with minority Tigreans (less than 6%) rules the remaining 94% citizens with terror and constant intimidation.

Moreover, about 15 journalists have been unlawfully arrested and remain imprisoned; whilst over 24 journalists have fled the country in the past 2 years alone. The regime kidnaps and kills any person fleeing the country suspected of becoming opposition party members.

The latest campaigns against the Oromo nation’s formidable academician, staunch human rights activist and intellectual is part of such sustained state sponsored terror against civilians. Whilst doing so, the regime of this empire is being sponsored by the West under the pretext of War on Terror’ practically the regime is terrorising the citizens.

በኢትዮጵያ የስዊድንን አምባሳደር ጨምሮ በ12 ስዊድናውያን ላይ የመግደል ሙከራ ተደረገ

ኢሳት ራድዮ ዛሬ ታህሳስ 6/2007 ዓም  እንደዘገበው በግድያ ሙከራው ላይ የስዊድን የመገናኛ ብዙሃን በብዛት እየዘገቡበት መሆኑን ያብራራል።
እንደ ዘገባው  በኦሞ ስምጥ ሸለቆ ለሽርሽር የሄዱት በኢትዮጵያ የስዊድን አምባሳደርን ጨምሮ ሌሎች 12 ስዊድናውያን የነበሩ መሆኑን እና የተኩስ እሩምታ እንደወረደባቸው ይገልፃል።

አቶ ሞላ ይግዛው በስዊድን የኢትዮጵያ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ፎረም ምክትል ሊቀመንበር በጉዳዩ ላይ በሰጡት አስተያየት እንዲህ ብለዋል -

”አስራ ሁለት የስዊድን ዜጎች አምባሳደሩን ጨምሮ ይላልእዛ ላይ አራት ሰዎች የጫነው መኪና ላይ  ስዊድናውያንን ለመግደል ያለመ እና ያነጣጠረ ተኩስ ነው የተከፈተው።ከእዚህ ጋር በጥያየዘ ባለፈው ጊዜ H&M የተሰኘው ድርጅትን ያጋለጠ አንድ ጋዜጠኛ በእዛ አካባቢ ወይም ደቡብ ኢትዮያ  የሚደረገውን ግፍ ለዓለም ማጋለጡ እና በዓለም የሌለ ዲክታተር መባሉ ይታወቃል።ከእዛ በፊት  አንድ ቀን የስዊድን የጦር ፍርድቤት ያቀረብነውን የወንጀል ክስ ተቀብሎ ክስ እንደሚመሰርት አስታውቆ ነበር።በመሆኑም ይህንን ያደረገው ወያኔ ነው ሌላ ሊሆን አይችልም” ብለዋል።

አቶ ሽመልስ ከማል በአቶ በረከት ስምኦን ደጋፊነት የብሮድካስት ባለስልጣን ዋና ስራአኪያጅ የነበሩ ሲሆን፣ የ97 ምርጫን ተከትሎ የቅንጅት አመራሮችና ጋዜጠኞች በተከሰሱ ወቅት አቃቤ ሕግን ወክለው ሐሰተኛ መረጃዎች እንዲቀርቡና ሐሰተኛ ምስክሮችን በገንዘብ በመግዛትና በመደለል ለኢህአዴግ ውለታ ለመስራት የጣሩ ሰው መሆናቸው ይታወቃል፡፡

ይሁን እንጅ አቶ በረከት ከጤና ጋር በተያያዘ ስራቸውን እየተዉ በመምጣታቸው አቶ ሽመልስ ብቸኛው ደጋፊያቸውን አጥተዋል። አቶ ሽመልስ አቶ በረከትን የመተካት ህልም ቢኖራቸውም ሳይሳካላቸው አቶ ሬድዋን ቦታውን እንዲወስዱ ተደርጓል። በሁለቱ ባለስልጣኖች መካከል ባለው ልዩነት የተነሳ፣ አቶ ሽመልስ ከስራቸው የሚባረሩበት ቀን እሩቅ ላይሆን እንደሚችል ወይም በገዛ ፈቃዳቸው ስራቸውን በመልቀቅ ከአገር ለመውጣት ሙከራ ሊያደርጉ እንደሚችሉ ጉዳዩን በቅርብ የሚከታተሉ ታዛቢዎች ይገልጻሉ። የአቶ ሽመልስ የስልጣን ቆይታ በከፍተኛ ህመም ከሚሰቃዩት ከአቶ በረከት ስምኦን ህልውና ጋር የተያያዘ መሆኑን ታዛቢዎች ይናገራሉ።

Medrek, the ONLY Pro-Democracy and Pro-Justice Opposition Political Party in Ethiopia, held a rally in Finfinne/Addis Ababa on Dec. 14, 2014; the Medrek pro-democracy coalition includes: the Oromo Federalist Congress/OFC, the Sidama Liberation Movement/SLM, the Ethiopian Social Democratic Federal Party/ESDFP and others.

According to reports, thousands of rally goers chanted slogans in Afan Oromo, English and Amharic languages demanding the TPLF-led Ethiopian regime free Oromo political prisoners, journalists and other political prisoners. Some of the slogans included: “Free Bekele Gerba!” – “Free Oromo Students!” – “Stop Land-Grabbing” – and “Free Journalists!”

At the rally, senior leaders of Medrek gave rousing speeches; speakers included: Dr. Beyene Petros (the Coalition’s President), Mr. Bulcha Demeksa (Chairman Emeritus of the Oromo Federalist Congress/OFC – one of the political organizations in the pro-democracy Medrek), Dr. Merera Gudina (Chairman of OFC), Mr. Tilahun Endeshaw of the EthiopianSocial Democratic Federal Party/ESDFP, and Mr. Desta Dinka (Leader of the Medrek Youth League).

አሳካሪ-እና ግልፅ ያልሆነ ፖለቲካ።ለአዲስ አበባ በርግጥ እንግዳ አይደለም።ጥንት እንደ ቅዳሜዉ ነበረች።የዛሬ አርባ አመት የጥንት ሥርዓቷ መለወጡ በታወጀ፤ ያለምንም ደም የኢትዮጵያ እንከን እንዲወድም በተዘመረባት ማግስትም በደም ኩሬ ተነከረች።በ1983 ያቺ ጉደኛ ከተማ የሠላም፤ ዲሞክራሲን ጉዞ መጀመሯ ተነግሮባት ሳያበቃ በሌላ ደም ጨቀየች።
