Ethiopia: TPLF’s Leaders Arrogance and Contempt: Inviting Further Bloodshed and Loss of Lives

Since the downfall of the military government of Ethiopia in 1991, the political and socioeconomic lives of the country have totally been controlled by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front/TPLF leaders and business institutions. As soon as the TPLF controlled Addis Ababa, the capital city, in 1991, the first step it took was to create People’s Democratic Organizations (PDOs) in the name of different nations and nationalities   in the country.   With the help of these PDOs, the TPLF managed to control the whole country in a short period of time from corner to corner. The next step that the TPLF took was to weaken and/or eliminate all independent opposition political organizations existing in the country, including those with whom it formed the Ethiopian Transitional Government in 1991. Just to pretend that it was democratizing the country, the TPLF signed seven international human rights documents from 1991 to 2014. These include the “Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment”. Despite this, it is known that the TPLF has tortured many of its own citizens ever since it assumed power, and has continued to the present day.

The TPLF Government adopted a new constitution in 1995; and, based on this constitution, formed new federal states. The new Ethiopian constitution is full of spurious democratic sentiments and human rightsterms meant to inspire the people of Ethiopia and the world community. The TPLF’s pretentious promise to march towards democracy enabled it to receive praise from people inside and outside including donor countries and organizations. The TPLF government managed somehow to maintain a façade of credibility with western governments including those of the USA and the UK. In reality, the TPLF security forces were engaged in intensive killings, abductions, disappearances of a large number of Oromo, Ogaden, Sidama peoples; and others whom the TPLF suspected of being members, supporters or sympathizers of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), Ogadenian National Libration Front (ONLF), and Sidama Peoples Libiration Front (SPLF). The TPLF high officials to ordinary level cadres in the various regional states engaged in enriching themselves and their family members by looting and embezzling public wealth and properties, raping young women in the occupied areas of the nations and nationalities in Ethiopia, and committing many other forms of corruptions.

According to a schedule released by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, citizens will go to the polls to elect a new government on 24 May 2015. It will be Ethiopia’s fifth national election since EPRDF came to power in 1991.

In connection with the coming National Election of Ethiopia, the ruling EPRDF government has begun to wage a widespread campaign to secure again the 99.6% of parliamentarian seats it has controlled since 2010- the seats it acquired by electoral fraud.  As the election date of May 2015 approaches, the government of Ethiopia has unabashedly continued its systematic violence against opposition political parties’ leaders, members, and supporters.  Candidates of the opposition political parties are the major targets in all regional states in the country including the capital city, Finfinne/Addis Ababa.    For example, the information that the HRLHA has obtained through its correspondents indicates that hundreds of election candidates of the opposition OFC (Oromo Federalist Congress) party from most zones of Oromia Regional State have been arrested and sent to prisons.

In the most recent wave of arrests and imprisonments that has been going on since the first week of January, 2015 and which has touched almost all corners of Oromia, hundreds of OFC party leaders, members and supporters from all walks of life have been taken from their homes and work places and sent to prison.

According to the HRLHA reporter, in this particular political violence by the ruling party against the OFC party leaders, members and supporters in western Oromia zone Qellem, Dabidolo and Gambit districts, in the eastern Wallagga zone Guduru, Nunu Qumbq, and Wama Haagaloo districts, in the Eastern Oromia Zone in the Western Hararge zone in Masala district, in the Southern Oromia zone in Robe – Bale town Regional State of Oromia have been taken to prison.

The Oromo community would like to INFORM all its MEMBERS in Kenya and the entire Oromo people, that the intended PLAN of Woyane to drive Oromo refugees into submission has been boycotted. The intention of forced attendance to a malicious meeting on Feb 14-2015 at the Ethiopian Embassy of Kenya, which contained a hidden agenda, has been invalidated. The plan was proposed by higher officials of Oromia Regional State. It became unsuccessful because of a strong resistance from the Oromo community at large. This outcome was due to everyone’s effort and dedication, as well as obeyed and convinced by the Oromo community’s declaration to refrain from attending this meeting.

Furthermore, the Oromo community would like to clarify that its members should be aware of the other strategies that the Ethiopian agents are using to lure and hence trap them so that they can get and SEND them back to Ethiopia. In fact, we were committed to giving awareness of this hidden agenda of our members so that they get the reality of the situation then accepted. Afterward, they followed suit and decided to boycott the planned meeting. Meanwhile, the Ethiopian SECURITY agents wanted to take the refugees as a ride so that they could use their poverty STATUS promising them land, housing, jobopportunities if they accept to be taken back to their homeland. This was mendacious, but a tool to bring down the cases of the refugees at UNHCR so that they couldn’t be granted their refugee STATUSdetermination. In addition, it was a strategy used process to convince the UNHCR that the refugees had no political persecution accusations against them from their homeland hence they could be free to go back to their homeland. Therefore, due to this rise of awareness of our community to its members, many members did not attend the meeting, but only around fifty (50) attended hence their meeting and its agenda went unsuccessful.

Their plan was defeated for the time being and we as the community expected to believe that these security agents will come up with another mechanism in future. Therefore, we are REQUESTING our members to be vigilant and remain united and SHARE any information that are compromising the security of the community and its members. Besides, as an entire of Oromo community here in Kenya, we wish to appreciate the Kenyan government, security forces and police officers who willingly understood our claims and stood with us in all matters to grant our safety life.

The spearhead of the TPLF regime’s Addis Ababa MasterPlan, Abay Tsehaye, warns OPDO leaders, Oromo students and others who oppose it. He blames on the OPDO leaders for not speeding up the execution of Master Plan. He said the plan will be implemented by force.

በ 21 ክፍለ ዘመን አደጉ እና ሰለጠኑ የምንላቸው የዓለማችን ሀገሮች የእንሰሳት መብት ከሰው ልጅ መብት ባልተናነሰ ሁኔታ የሚከበርበት ደረጃ ላይ ተደርሶል። የነሱን መብት መጠበቅም ልክ እንደ አንድ የእድገት ደረጃ መቆጠር ከጀመረ ውሎ አድሮል። እነሱም ልክ እንደ አንደ ሰው ፍላጎት እና ስሜት አሏቸው ለምሳሌ ያህልም የህመም፣የደስታ፣የፍራቻ፣የብቸኝነት፣የስቃይ እና የእናት ፍቅር የመሳሰሉት ናችው። ለዚህም ነው ፍላጎታቸውን እና ስሜታቸውን የሚቃረን ተግባር መፈፀም የለበትም የሚሉ አያሌ የእንሰሳት መብት ተሞጋቾች የሚቃወሙት እና የሚታገሉት። መሀተመ ጋንዲ በአንድ ወቅት ¨የአንድ ሕዝብ ታላቅነት የሚለካው ወይም የምመዘነው ወይም የሚዳኝው ለእንሰሳት በሚሰጡት እንክብካቤ ነው ያሉት¨።

ዛሬ ግን ምስኪኑን ለፍቶ አደር የኦሮሞ ገበሬ ለነፃነት፣እኩልነት እና ፍትህ ብሎ የሚታገለውን እና ለአምባገነኑ የወያኔ መንግስት አልገዛም ያለውን ሰባዊ ከሆነ የፍጡር ደረጃ አወረዱት። ዛሬ ዓለም ለእንሰሳት ከምትሰጠው ክብር በታች አውርደውት ልክ እንዳልባሌ ነገር ቆጠሩት። ሰውን የሚያክል ክቡር ፍጡርን በአሰቃቂ ሁኔታ ከገደሉ በኃላ መሬት ለመሬት እየጎተቱ በአደባባይ መስቀላቸው ያቺ ሀገር መንግስት አልባ የተደራጁ የሽፍቶች ቡድን የምትገዛ መሆኖን ማሳያ ነው።

እነሱ ብቻ በተቆጣጠሩት የመገናኛ ብዙሀን የራሳቸውን የሽፍታነት ተግባር ለነጻነት ታጋዩ ምስኪን ገበሬ ይለጥፉለታል። አሽባሪ፣ጠባብ፣ሽፍታ፣ገንጣይ፣አስገንጣይ፣ጎጠኞ ወዘተ ይሉታል። ደርግም አኮ ፀረ ህዝብ ፣ፀረ አብዮት አያለ ነበር እኮ ሕዝብ ሲፈጅ የነበረው። እነዚህም በተመሳሳዩ የተለያየ ታርጋ እየለጠፉ ሕዝቡን ጨረሱት ::ታድያ እንዲት አንድ ጭብጥ ነቀዝ ወያኔ ማስወገድ አቅቶን እንዲህ ዓይነት ጭካኔ የተሞላበት ኢ-ሰባዊ የሆነ ድርጊት እና የሥም ማጥፋት ዘመቻ በሕዝባችን ላይ እስከ መቼ ሲፈፅመ ይኖራሉ? ነቀዝ ያልኩት ለመሳደብ ፈልጊም አይደለም ስድብ የኦሮሞ ባህልም አይደለምና። ቃሉን የተጠቀምኩት የወያኔን እና የነቀዝን ተመሳሳይነት እና አንድነት ለማሳየት ነው።

ሁለቱም ውስጥ ውስጡን እየበሉ ባዶ የሚያስቀሩ ተዋስያን ስለሆኑ ነው። በመሀከላችን የገቡትን እነዚን ተዋሲያን በመረባረብ ለአንዲ እና ለመጨረሻ ግዚ ማስወገድ ካልቻልን በታሪክ ተወቃሽ ከመሆን አናመልጥም ሌላም አካል ሊያስወግድልን አይመጣም። ¨surre jilbaa irraan dhumtee abbaatu warranata degaa Ijjollummaan dhuftee abbaatu tattafata¨ ይባላል።

ተማሪውን፣ገበሬወውን፣ሰራተኛውን፣ ከሕፃን አዋቂ ገደሉ፣አሰሩ፣አፈናቀሉ፣አሰደዱ፣የምንመካበትን የተፈጥሮ ሀብት መዘብሩ፣ትላልቅ መሬቶቻችን ወሰዱ፣ ወንዞቻችንን መረዙ። ከዚህም አልፈዉ የምስኪኑን ገብሬ ሬሣ በራሱ ቀያ ላይ በወገኖቹ ፊት መሬት ለመሬት ጎተቱ እጅ እና እግሩን ጠፍንገዉ ሰቀሉ ከዚህ በላይ ለኦሮሞ ሕዝብ ሞት ምን አለ? ከዚህ በላይ ወርደት ከወዲት ይመጣል?

የኦሮሞ ሕዝብ በዚያች ሀገር ላይ በብዛት ግንባር ቀደም ነው። ሕዝብ ደግሞ በየትያውም ዘርፍ ከፍተኛ ሚና የሚጫወት አካል ነው። ያለ ሕዝብ ተሳትፎ ሁለንተናዊ እድገት እና ነፃነት የማይታሰብ ነው። በተለያየ ግዜም ሕዝብ አምባገነን መንግስት ትብየው አካል ጋር እንዳሆነ አሳይቶል ወያኔም ሕዝብ አልባ አንደሆነ ይታወቃል። እየደረሰብን ካለው ውርደት ለመዉጣት አና ነፃነታችን ለመጎናፀፍ እያንዳንዳችን ባለን አቅም እና ችሎታ የምናበረክተው አስተዋፆ ለትግሉ አንድ ደረጃ መድረስ ለነፃነታችን ህውን መሆን ወሳኝነት አለው። ይህ በሕዝባችን ላይ እየደረሰ ያለውን አሰቃቂ ድርጊት የመታገል የሁላችንም ግዴታ ነዉ።

እንደዚህ ዓይነት ጭካኔ የተሞላበት ኢሰባዊ የሆነ ተግባር የሞተን ሰው ሪሳ መሬት ለመሬት ሲጓትቱ የተስተዋሉት በአፍሪካ ቀንድ ካሉ ሀገሮች ዉስጥ የተፈጽመው በወቅቱ መንግስት አልባ በነበረችው ሱማልያ ዉስጥ በአዉሮጳዊያን አቆጣጠር1993 በተባበሩት መንግስታት የሰላም አስከባሪ የአሜሪካ ወታደር ላይ እና 2007 በአፍሪካ ኅብረት የሰላም አስከባሪዎችኢትዪጵያ፤ኡጋንዳ እና ብሩንዲ ወታደሮች ላይ ነው። ይህም የሰላም አስከባሪ ኃይሎች ከሀገራችን ለቀው ይውጡልን በሚሉ ቁጡ ሱማሌያውያን የተፈፀመ ነበር። የኛን ግን ለየት የሚያደርገዉ መንግስት ተብየዉ ወያኔ ድርጊቱ የተፈፀመ በመሆኑ ብቻ ሳይሆን መሬት ለመሬት መጓተቱ ሳያበቃ በአደባባይ መስቀሉም ፍጹም አረመኔነቱን ያሳየ ተግባር ነው።

የኦሮሞ ሕዝብ ከሌሎች ከተጨቆኑ ብሔር ፣በሔረሰብ እና ሕዝብ ጋር በመሆን በዚያች ሀገር ላይ ነፃነት ለማምጣት ከፍተኛ ሚና ሊጭወት ይችላል።

ሕዝብ ደግሞ በየትያውም ዘርፍ ከፍተኛ ሚና የሚጫወት አካል ነው። ያለ ሕዝብ ሁለንተናዊ ተሳትፎ እድገት እና ነፃነት የማይታሰብ ነው። የሕዝብ ድጋፍ የሌለው ልክ ምሰሶ የሌለው እቤት ነው። በተለያየ ግዜም ሕዝብ አምባገነን መንግስት ትብየው አካል ጋር እንዳሆነ አሳይቶል ወያኔም ሕዝብ አልባ አንደሆነ ይታወቃል።

እየደረሰብን ካለው ውርደት ለመዉጣት አና ነፃነታችን ለመጎናፀፍ እያንዳንዳችን ባለን አቅም እና ችሎታ የምናበረክተው አስተዋፆ ለትግሉአንድ ደረጃ መድረስ ለነፃነታችን ህውን መሆን ወሳኝነት አለው። ይህ በሕዝባችን ላይ እየደረሰ ያለውን አሰቃቂ ድርጊት የመታገል የሁላችንም ግዴታ ነዉ።

February 1, 2015 (GiDira Vs EbiSa – Facebook) — It reminds me one of those employee appreciation day when your higher boss decide to treat you for your countless contributions. Then comes your immediate boss making sure that every employee is available to the meeting with their best behavior and with presentable dress code. You sit behaved around the table gazing at your host with tension and confusion, best represented by Alemayehu. Or, You may be unfortunate enough to have a sit next to a host and it becomes your duty to keep the conversations going. Then You face that uncomfortable moment when your host struggle to hear your shy and low tuned voice, best represented by the guy who rub his hair. Or, here you are, the guy with glasses, on the verge of dying of boredom. You look for any venue to get away from that area and desperate enough to consider escaping through a roof.

On a serious note, I believe individuals have the right to meet up with anyone they choose. However, the decision to have almost every crew at the same place and at the same time must have come from OMN higher ranking officials. I would hope that would be either Executive Director, Board of Trustee or Editorial Board or well…

Here is the biggest catch; these are supposedly independent and free minded journalists who would potentially report the wrong doing of an official leading a country with current, real time, reputation of abusing human rights. After this treats how would you think their reporting is not compromised?

Personally, I am still in denial that this in fact has happened. It will take me time to comprehend and to convince myself that people who are responsible for killing our little brothers and sisters less than a year ago are sitting and feasting with us.

Call for All Oromo in Washington, DC Metropolitan Area

TPLF Messengers Led by Abbaa-Duulaa Gammadaa are in US for Lobbying Oromos.

It is to be recalled that tens of thousands of Oromo nationals in general and Oromo students in particular have been killed, arrested and severely tortured by the TPLF-led Ethiopian regime. The protests broke out in large scale and spread out throughout Oromia beginning the month of April, 2014.

The current TPLF led Ethiopian government is a minority regime that dehumanized the Oromo people; violated the basic human rights to freedom of expression, association, and peaceful assembly; holding thousands of Oromo political prisoners in its notorious Maikelawi and many other official and secret detention centers without due legal process. It is displacing millions of Oromo farmers from their land in the name of master plan development. The arrests and tortures of Oromos have continued unabated. Many of those who survived the torture still remain incarcerated. Furthermore, for example, very recently two Oromo farmers in Salale, district of Oromia, were brutally murdered and their bodies were dragged and put on public display for resisting oppression. Such a barbaric action happened to Oromos in the present day while Abbaa-Duulaa is in ‘power’ representing OPDO as the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives. As a Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, he could have used his power to set up a federal committee to investigate the mass killings of more than a hundred Oromo students and civilians. However, Abbaa-Duulaa Gammadaa has never done that. Instead, he was sent by the Tigrean/TPLF regime to tarnish the image of the peaceful protesters and branded them as “violent robbers.” Please refer to this links which show when TPLF soldiers were shooting Oromo university students:
